I returned to painting after a 20-year hiatus pursuing a career in television and graphic arts. I moved to Portland from Tucson with my husband, Shawn, in 1995 where we worked in local television stations until 1999. That is when we started our own business doing computer animation for local ad agencies and documentarians. Our business, Marshall Arts Motion Graphics, just celebrated its 23rd anniversary.
In Tucson, I belonged to an art cooperative, which was loads of fun. The desert is a compelling subject and it has quite the range of color in its landscape. It was a challenge to learn the colors of the Pacific Northwest when I started painting again. After 10+ years, I’m just beginning to understand this landscape and atmosphere.
Plein air painting is my latest challenge.
